Can't reinstall Adobe Reader

Today I got a message that the recent Adobe update failed due to some error. They recommended that I uninstall it and then reinstall it - which I've done. But for some reason every time I downloaded it and started the re-installation process, it would go up to 90% and then stop and say that it can't install, because there already is a newer version of Adobe on the computer, but there isn't? I've tried about 6 or 7 times already and I've also restarted my laptop a couple of times. What could cause this issue? I really need to resolve this, because I can't work without Adobe Reader. Someone please help? Thanks.

You can try using this tool to first remove all traces of Reader from your computer:

    http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html

Then, you can download the full offline Reader installer from

    http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

After downloading, restart your computer and run the installer before doing anything else.
