Can't uninstall.

I'm using Mac OS 10.9.5 and I really like the Preview program for viewing PDFs.

Someone suggested I install Acrobat Reader and now all my PDF's default to that.

I can't find a way to make Preview my default PDF viewer, nor a way to uninstall Acrobat Reader.

I've been through the application folder and all three libraries (main, system and user) and trashed every reader or acrobat file I can find.

(They're everywhere: application support, caches, installers.)

Even after emptying the trash, my PDFs still open in Acrobat Reader: i don't know where they're finding it!

Acrobat Reader is behaving a bit like a virus.

Can anyone tell me how to get rid of it?

    We apologize for the delay in response.

    As mentioned above, you have uninstalled application and related folders from all the locations.

    have you also deleted Acrobat folders from Utilities? if not then please check and remove from there.

    You may follow the steps mentions below to set "Preview" as default app to open .pdf-

    • Right click on  PDF file to your Mac Desktop
    • Get Info on the (File menu > Get Info | Command-I)
    • Click on the disclosure triangle next to Open with:
    • Select Preview.app:

    Open With.jpg

    • When Preview.app displays in the bubble, click the Change All... button

        Open With Prev.jpg

    • Click the Continue button in the next window to make the change permanent:

    Open With Msg.jpg
