Can't view pdf's Safari/Sierra/Acrobat Pro

Using Safari to download pdf''s from the web results in a black screen.

Running Sierra on a MacBook Air with Acrobat Pro.

No problem seeing them using Firefox.

Offered suggestions for setting security/plug-ins (for Mavericks) don't work. Suggested settings not an available option.

Any other adjustment or work-around?

Hi Vernm74733157,

Please try the following steps:

  • Go to Edit>Preferences>Internet>Display PDF in browser using is NOT ACTIVE
  • Quit Safari
  • Open Finder: Macintosh HD>Library>Internet Plug-Ins and delete any plugins related to pdf
  • At least two of them: Adobe PDFViewer.plugin and PDF Browser Plugin.plugin
  • Open safari and try to open the PDF again

Let me know if it works or you need any more help.

Thanks,

Supriya
