Cannot Connect to DDE server

My acrobot reader just stopped working.  When I try and open a pdf document I get the message "cannot connect to DDE server"

    Hi Carolb,

    Please try following troubleshooting steps:

    1- Check for updates - click "check for updates" under help menu.

    2- If that doesn't work, repair Reader by clicking "repair installation" under help menu. Reboot the machine after repair and try again.

    3- If issue still persists, remove Reader using cleaner tool: Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs , reboot the machine, download Reader from here: Adobe - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Distribution , reboot the machine and try again.
