Cannot Install Adobe Reader

Have Windows 10 and my then existing Adobe Reader stopped working.  Removed it and tried to download and reinstall but I get Error #150410 or Installation Failed after I download the app.  I have run through the troubleshooter, verified all that, but still cannot reinstall.  Need some help!

    Leo:

I can open all the PDF's using 'open with' so thank you for all that. And

after I did that the first time, I got a dialogue box asking me if I wanted

    Adobe Reader as my

default app. I clicked 'yes' and then restarted the laptop. Nevertheless,

all the Icons for all PDF documents located on my Desktop (shortcuts) and

in Documents still show the Microsoft Edge Icon. Difficult as from the

Desktop, a right click does not offer 'open with' as a menu item so I must

go find that document in Documents to be able to open it in Reader.

Any thoughts on getting the PDF Icons back to Adobe?

Try to download and install AcroRdrDC1500720033_en_US.msi from

    ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/AcrobatDC/1500720033/

Post installation, open Reader, accept EULA, and install latest update by going to "Help\Check for updates" menu

    Thank you Leo:

    1. I was able to download and in Programs on my computer I right clicked

Reader and clicked 'Repair' which usually gets the latest version.

    Programs now shows this:

    2. I then opened Reader and 'Accepted' the EULA.

    3. I then went to the help tab but the search for updates button was light

(not able to be activated) as I assume I have the latest version.

    4. I restarted the laptop

5..All my desktop icons for PDF's still show like this:

and when I double click any of these PDF icons, Microsoft Browser opens and

I can get the PDF that way, but want Reader as my default

    6. When I downloaded or opened Reader download in #1 above, I did click to

have Reader as my default app for this, but does not seem to have stuck or

    something else is wrong.

    Can you help?

Glad to hear you are able to install.

Repair does not install latest updates.

If you do not see "Check for updates", most likely your system admin set bUpdater policy in the Registry.

Please check if you see it in the registry below

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Policies\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\DC\FeatureLockDown

If it is set, you can delete bUpdater value to enable menu.

With regard to file type ownership-

On Windows 10 you will have to right click on any .pdf file, select "Open with" and follow instructions to select the program you want.

    Good luck.
