Hello Penne!

I hope you are doing well.

If you encounter the error message "The document you are trying to load requires Adobe Reader 8 or higher," it typically indicates that the PDF contains advanced features, such as XFA forms, which are not supported by all PDF viewers or browser-based PDF plugins. Are you on a Windows computer or a Mac, and what is the version? Try these steps, and let us know how it goes:

Download the PDF to Your Computer:

  • Instead of opening the PDF directly in your web browser, download it to your local storage.

  • Right-click on the PDF link and select "Save link as..." to save the file to your desired location.

Open with Adobe Acrobat Reader DC:

  • Ensure you have the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader DC installed on your system.

  • Navigate to the downloaded PDF file, right-click, and choose "Open with" > "Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.

Set Adobe Acrobat Reader DC as the Default PDF Viewer:

  • To prevent similar issues in the future, set Adobe Acrobat Reader DC as your default PDF viewer: https://adobe.ly/42rj808

    • Right-click on any PDF file.

    • Select "Properties."

    • Under the "General" tab, click on "Change..." next to "Opens with."

    • Choose "Adobe Acrobat Reader DC" and click "OK."

For testing purposes, Disable Protected Mode in Adobe Reader: Menu→ Preferences → Security (Enhanced) → Uncheck "Enable Protected Mode at startup." → Restart Reader. Please enable the security settings after the testing.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.
