Cannot save pdf documents on my PC

Was having trouble with my Acrobat Reader DC. Uninstalled it, and re-downloaded and installed it from Adobe site. Now I cannot save pdf's to my PC. I can open them, but that is all. When I try to edit, I cannot save my changes. Please help. Thanks

    reader is a free program that, generally, does not allow you to edit pdfs, but does allow you to open and view pdfs.

    I understand that you cannot merge documents, etc. but I have been using the same program for 2-1/2 years. I was able to add comments, measurements, etc, plus save to my PC or work network. What is different now?
