Cannot turn off duplex printing using Adobe Reader DC on Mac with Brother printer

I am using the latest version of Adobe Reader DC with the latest version of High Sierra and a Brother MFC 5900 printer.  I cannot turn off duplex printing.

In this regard, the is no duplex on/off option in the print dialog box for Adobe Reader DC (contrary to what is shown in the Adobe Support page).  In the usual Mac print dialog box for the printer, duplex is off, and no duplex printing occurs for other applications.  In the settings accessible through the printer menu on the physical printer itself, duplex printing is off.

Can anyone help me, please?
