Question

Cannot view PDF normally using Adobe Reader on Mac. Can anyone suggest a fix?

Hi,

I'm using:

macOS: 10.14.3

Adobe: 2019.010.20019

Problem:

When I click on a PDF, Adobe starts but the document does not show on the screen. Adobe Reader shows active in the doc at the bottom of the screen, so I can click on that and access the command bar at the top of the screen when the Adobe Reader is the selected app. Besides not displaying the doc, Adobe behaves as if the doc is opened. That is, I can print the doc and I can also view the doc in full-screen mode.

To resolve the issue I have reinstalled Adobe Reader, checked that it is the default for PDFs, investigated preferences, and tried a variety of view commands. Nothing works. I cannot get the normal Adobe Reader view to show.

Suggestions?

Thanks,

Allan

    Hi Allan,

I am sorry for the trouble you had, would you mind sharing the version of Adobe Reader installed? Is it 19.010.20091? As the latest available patch of Acrobat/Reader is version 19.010.20091

Reboot the machine once and try opening a few PDF files from Window>Cascade>Tile and see if this brings PDF files.

Try clicking on Window at the top and then click on Zoom and see if this brings up the PDF file.

Are you not able to open all the PDF files or is it specific to one PDF file? I tried replicating the issue at my end, and I am able to open the PDF files on Mac machine with the latest version of Adobe Reader.

Would it be possible to post a screenshot? To post a screenshot, please refer to https://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-7043#jive_content_id_How_do_I_attach_a_screenshot

    Thanks,

    Anand Sri.
