Comparison different Adobe Reader Versions

Dear All!

i´m in the need to replace Adobe Reader 11 as of end of life which means no further security updates.

Now i´m not sure which version to choose. I would like to use a "non"-cloud version. This would be Adobe Reader 2017.

This raises some questions like product lifecylce, functionalities, etc.

I tried to find an overview of all versions (ReaderDC 2015, Reader DC 2018, Reader 2017) but wasn´t successfull.

Also a product roadmap would be helpfull to make a decision which version to go for.

Any help is highly appreciated!

    Don’t be misled by “cloud” In the name. All version of Acrobat Reader install and run locally. I don’t think Reader 2017 even exists as an identified product though Acrobat 2017 does. A key buzzword is “classic” vs “continuous”. The latter auto updates and so is recommended for anyone security conscious.

    Adobe has simply released an updated version of Reader (free software) which is named as Adobe Acrobat Reader DC. The latest version of the software is similar to the previous versions in terms of viewing, annotating and signing PDFs along with some added functionalities and features. The 2015/2017/2018 is the build details of the software for identifying the version. The name of the software will remain same as Adobe Reader DC.

    I am not sure what do you mean by "non-cloud, but the Adobe Reader is a desktop version of the software and you get the option to save PDF files to the Adobe Cloud using the Adobe Reader.
