If I save a document as a pdf I am able to copy and paste from that pdf into another lets say word document and edit the text. If I scan a document through the copier I cannot copy and paste and edit the text. Am I missing something?
A scan is just a picture. There is no text in it. Some software offers "text recognition" or "OCR", which uses guesswork to have a try to find the text.
