Documents signed with Wacom STU-540 wont open in Acrobat Reared

We are in the process of implementing Wacom's STU-540 signature platforms.

However, the tests revealed that Acrobat Reader does not open files that are signed with Wacom's certificate at all but the file opens correctly with all other applications.

When opening the file with Acrobat Reader, it does not show the content of the file at all, only the signature section is visible on the pages, otherwise the pages are empty. Also, it displays the error message shown below.

An error exists on this page. Acrobat may not display the page correctly. Please contact the person who created the PDF document to correct the problem.

Is there any way to get this to work with Acrobat Reader or do we have to find another way to sign documents?

Hello @Rolley65,

We apologize for the inconvenience caused, as per the description above, you are getting the error message while viewing the last page of the PDF "An error exists on this page. Acrobat may not display the page correctly", Is that correct?

Could you please confirm what is the content of the last page of the PDF file? Does it contain real text or is it a scanned document contains image only?

Make sure that you have the latest version of Adobe Reader installed, check for any pending updates of Adobe Reader from help>check for updates, reboot the machine after updating Adobe Reader.

Try repairing Adobe Reader once from help>repair installation. You may also refer and try the suggestions from the following Adobe discussions

What is the dot version of Adobe Reader installed? To identify, refer to Identify the product and its version for Acrobat and Reader DC

What is the version of OS installed? If the issue is specific to one PDF file, can you share it with us so we can test it at our end?

To share the file, please use Adobe Send feature, upload the file, share the link to files via private message only, How Do I Send Private Message

Let us know how it goes and share your findings.

I have exactly the same problem right now. Is there a solution for this?

Hello,

I hope you're doing well, and we apologize for the delayed response and the trouble.

Please ensure you have the latest version of Acrobat installed on the machine. Check for any pending updates from the Menu > Help> Check for Updates, install the updates, restart the app and the machine, and check. For more information, see this: https://adobe.ly/41rvAeP.

For testing purposes, try opening the PDF in a browser to check if it opens correctly.

Also, disable the security settings in the app's preferences and see if you're still unable to open the PDF:

  1. Go to Menu > Preferences > Security (Enhanced).
  2. Uncheck 'Enhanced Security' and 'Protected Mode at Startup'.
  3. Click OK, restart the app and your machine, then try opening the PDF again.

Remember to re-enable the security settings after testing.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.
