Driver Tonic - can't get rid of it

When I updated my Acrobat Reader a while back, somehow a program called "Driver Tonic" got installed.  I have tried all the uninstalling processes I can find.  It just will NOT go away.  It keeps interrupting everything I do and suggests I upgrade to the real product so it might actually do something besides pester me.    I even got to C:/program files/Driver Tonic but the *.exe files are somehow blocked so I cannot open or delete or do anything to them.

I get a message that the program cannot be accessed because it is being used in an open program.  Task Master cannot find it.

It says I need permission from my Administrator.  This is my laptop.  I am my own Administrator.

Anyone have a successful strategy to wipe this thing away?

This software you refer to, Driver Tonic, has absolutely nothing to do with Adobe Acrobat Reader, its installer, or any Adobe updaters.

I strongly suspect that your system got hijacked by some malware around the same time Acrobat Reader got updated.

You may need to boot into Windows Safe Mode or even into a command line mode to delete this crud.

Sincerely wishing you good luck in getting rid of that malware. Hopefully, it doesn't do further damage to your system.
