Error 523:523 when trying to open pdf in Acrobat Reader DC

My version of Acrobat Reader DC does not have a toggle box for disabling or enabling the protect mode.  So what can I do to fix the error.  It only happens on every other pdf that we try to open and it just started yesterday.

    Hi msolsten,

    Try to repair Reader, launch Reader>click Help menu>select Repair Installation.

    Please confirm the version of Reader installed on your machine.

    Under Help menu>select About Adobe Acrobat Reader.

    Also, let me know the Operating System.

    I tried the repair and I also uninstalled and reinstalled. 

    Adobe Acrobat Reader DC v. 2015.023.20053

    Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard

    I don't know if a new update came in and screwed everything up, but it was working fine until 1/11.

    I found the "protect mode" toggle.  It is not located in the general area that it used to be.  It has been moved to Security (Enhanced).  After I untoggled the protect mode, everything works again.
