Try disabling the new Acrobat UI (via Menu - Disable New Acrobat).

Hello!

I hope you are doing well, and thanks for sharing the details.

The errors you're seeing—“Unexpected operator in display list” and “Could not create this signature”—typically indicate a rendering or compatibility issue between the PDF's content and the certificate or signature handler.

Please ensure you have the latest version of Acrobat Reader installed on the machine: 25.001.20458. The Planned update is April 15, 2025. You can check for any pending updates from the Menu > help > check for updates, install the updates, restart the app and the machine, and try again.

Check Certificate Trust Settings in Adobe Acrobat Reader. Even if your FNMT certificate is correctly installed in your system, Acrobat Reader might not trust it by default. Open Adobe Acrobat Reader. Go to: Menu > Preferences > Signatures > under Identities & Trusted Certificates, click More...

Look for your FNMT certificate in the list, select it, and click Trust. Under "This certificate can be used for:", make sure Use for Digital Signatures is checked. To learn more about the certificate-based signatures, please see this article: https://adobe.ly/4jmkMX0

Reinstall the FNMT certificate, as it ensures proper registry installation for use with Acrobat. You may also need to import the FNMT root and intermediate certificates into Acrobat manually: Import them via Menu > Preferences > Trust Manager > Update AATL or manually add them in Signatures > Identities & Trusted Certificates.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.
