Question

Excel file saving to pdf larger than the Word file I saved. And, trying to copy and paste an excel file in pdf loses texts and pasted on another page.

I used to be able to save a Word file, then save an excel file and they both save as 75% and look the same size.  Now if I save them both, the excel file shows it’s saving as 75% but it’s bigger in the pdf.  Also, I used to be able to save the excel file to pdf, then I could edit the pdf and choose the whole table, copy and paste into another pdf and would look perfect.  Now Adobe slowly inserts all the texts boxes and they are all misaligned and I will lose some text.  I’ve tried just taking a snapshot and pasting but that comes out a little blurry.

    Hi @Rmarentes,

Thank you for reaching out, and we understand how frustrating it is when a workflow that used to work smoothly has changed on you, especially when you're relying on consistent output.

To make sure we point you in the right direction, could you help us with a few details:

    1. Which Adobe app are you using to save and edit these PDFs (Acrobat Pro, Acrobat Standard, or Acrobat Reader)? The editing steps you described (copying and pasting a table from one PDF into another and pasting a snapshot into a PDF) are available in Acrobat Pro and Standard, but not in Acrobat Reader.

    2. How are you saving the Word and Excel files to PDF? For example: File > Save As > PDF from inside Word/Excel, the Acrobat tab (PDFMaker) in the Office ribbon, or File > Print > Adobe PDF printer? The 75% you're referring to is that Excel's Page Layout > Scale to Fit setting, or a setting in the Acrobat save dialog?

    3. What version of Acrobat, Word, and Excel are you using, and on Windows or macOS? You can find your Acrobat version under Menu > Help > About Acrobat.

    4. When did this behavior change? Did it start after a specific update, a change of computer, or a change to the source Excel/Word files?

A short screen recording showing the export from Excel to PDF at 75%, and a screenshot of the same section in the Word PDF and the Excel PDF side by side, would help us see what's shifted.

Once we have these, we'll be able to give you specific guidance.

    Thanks,
    ^BS
