EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED RIGHT NOW

I am trying to do my very first self-publish book. I was told that it was better to do it in Word and then I was told by the company that will be running the copies of the books off that it has to be in a pdf file. Okay, so I have pdf and the editor actually proofed it in pdf file.  However, a few of my pictures are in color and the company is saying they will not accept it in color because it may not come out right and I need to copy it all in black and white.  Here is the problem; I have done everything possible to edit in my Adobe. Now, they have been taking out $9.99 a month so I should be able to damn edit something. Could someone please advise me. Everytime I've tried to connect with Adobe of course there is not a HUMAN that I can talk to so that's not working for me either. Thank you.

What is your “Adobe”? For $9.99 it sounds like Photoshop which MUST NOT Be used for editing a PDF. Just make second copies of the pictures in black and white, update the original file and remake the PDF. Keep the colour fike too, you might need it one day.

By the way you make it sound as if you had weird advice, but to make a book in Word and deliver it as a PDF is the normal thing. Were there problems? Certainly a lot to learn through, you’ve chosen to do the jobs of many trained professionals...!

On the other hand any self-respecting publisher should be able to simply print a color file in black & white... Maybe they just don't want to be help responsible for the results, so they're passing the buck along to the author. They should really provide a Preflight profile that validates the files before it is submitted, though.
