Failure to connect to a DDE server

Please help.  I am using Acrobat Reader DC product version 18.009.20044 and i can't open any PDF's because of the above error.  I have spent the last hour going round in circles trying to self repair and am ready to throw computer out window.  I have tried to delete and reinstall, no luck.  Please can anyone help me???

    Adobe Acrobat and Reader official update containing the fix for this issue is now available. This update will be automatically pushed to all existing installations of Acrobat and Reader. If you want, you may also manually trigger the update by opening the application and going to Help > Check for Updates.
