Question

Fillable forms not available unless form is opened from recent files menu.

RDS user account which is having problems with fillable fields/forms in Adobe Reader. The user can open PDF files from the shared folder but cannot fill in fields. If the same user closes the form & Adobe Reader, reopens Adobe Reader, and opens the same form from the recent files menu the fields are then fillable. What the heck is going on?

@brad_6317 Kinda visualize your "recents" as a cache of Acrobat. Just like a browser cache helps pages load faster by remembering where they are, the "Recent" list helps you jump back into work without browsing through deep network folders. What you can do, is add that path to Acrobat Preferences. Command K (MAC) or Control K (PC),  select Security (Enhanced) from the left sidebar. In the Privileged Locations section: Click Add Folder Path. Select the root shared folder (or the specific drive letter/UNC path) where the PDFs are stored. Click OK and restart Adobe.

I have done this via GPO (also IE Security Zone) via the parent folder. Only one user out of almost 100 is experiencing this issue.

Hi brad_6317,

Thank you for reaching out, and sorry for the trouble caused.

Please check whether this happens with all PDF forms, or only with a particular one. Could you please share a short video showing the workflow for opening the PDF form from the shared folder or the recent lists?

We will get this checked.

Thanks,

Meenakshi
