Question

Find in document (CTRL+F) - old behaviour

Hello,

with last update, "find function" has changed;

previously, when the user pressed "CTRL + F", the text in the "Find" dialog was selected; in this way, it was sufficient to write and press "next" (Enter) to search for the text in the document.

with the new version, if a text is already present in the "Find" dialog, the text is no longer selected but the cursor is positioned at the end of the text; to carry out a new search it is therefore necessary to delete what is already present, insert the new text and press "next" (Enter).

Is not possible to keep the old behavior (from my point of view much more useful in case of numerous searches in the document)?

Thank you

Nothing happens when I press CTRL+F. The find window doesn't come up. When I right click, and choose "Find", the Find box appears, however, I cannot type anything.  I have tried resetting, uninstalling and re-installing all to no avail. This happened after the last update.

I'm using the current Adobe Acrobat Reader DC version - 2019.012.20034

Hello Manueler,

With the latest release of Acrobat and Adobe Reader, the Search experience is improved and it's the newly designed behavior.

When you type the first few letters to search in a PDF, Acrobat provides suggestions for the matching word and its frequency of occurrence in the document. When you select a word, Acrobat highlights all the matching results in the PDF. For detailed information, you may refer to the help article What's new in Adobe Acrobat DC

Searching PDFs, Adobe Acrobat

Would it be possible to share more about the issue you are experiencing with the new changes in the Find function so that we can assist you in a better manner?

Thanks,

Anand Sri.

I wwork a lot using pdf and excel togheter;

I have pdf with 500-600 pages and excel file with hundreds of codes to be searched into pdf's.

Before:

@Excel: copy cell value

@Adobe: CTRL+F (if textbox was not empty, text was highlighted), paste, search

Now:

@Excel: copy cell value

@Adobe: CTRL+F (if textbox is not empty, I need to delete it or to use CTRL+A to select all), paste, search

Old "search/find" behaviour was easier in case of frequent use of this function.
