Question

Flash content not working Reader 2018.011.20040 and NPAPI 29.0.0.171

Hello,

We use Acrobat Reader 2018.011.20040 along with the Flash Player NPAPI plug-in version 29.0.0.171.

Pdf files containing flash animations worked well with older versions of Acrobat Reader and the NPAPI plug-in, but since the last update the flash content is only showing blank. I tried reinstalling both packages, but no result. We got no notification of a missing plug-in, so we assume Reader is recognizing the NPAPI plug-in.
Is the NPAPI plug-in still supported for this version of Acrobat Reader?

We tried different pdf files containing flash, of which we're sure have worked before.

Hello Joost,

I wasn't in the correct impression as I got derailed from the track, sorry for the confusion. You need to install the Adobe Flash player on the machine instead of the Flash Plug-in.

Refer to the Adobe article Adobe Flash Player needed for Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Acrobat Reader and let us know if this helps.

Regards,

Anand Sri.

Hi Anand,

The article doesn't help. When I try to search these forums I find that I need the NPAPI Plugin to be able to see flash content in Adobe Reader.
What do you mean with you need to install the Adobe Flash player? I can't find the download anywhere.. only the plug-ins.

Thanks,

Joost

Hello Tonh,

Sorry for the delayed response and inconvenience caused. Download the flash from the URL Adobe - Adobe Flash Player Download

And, you are correct, you need NPAPI plugin to see the flash content in Adobe Reader. Make sure that you have the latest update available of Adobe Reader installed DC Release Notes — Release Notes for Acrobat DC Products

Let us know how it goes and share your observation.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.

Hello,

Thanks for your answer.
You refer to the Adobe PDF plug-in.
We don't have a problem with the PDF plug-in, we have problems with the FLASH plugin, in Adobe Reader, not in a webbrowser.
We use the Flash NPAPI plug-in with Adobe Reader, not the Adobe Reader NPAPI-pugin with a webbroser. There is no webbrowser in play here, so I can't use your answer as a possible solution.

Thanks,

Joost
