font pack for Adobe Acrobat Reader 2017 MUI (not DC)

Hi All,

I read a both though various font pack related topics but I am still unable to resolve it.

I am running "Adobe Acrobat Reader 2017 MUI" 2017.011.30070 on Windows server 2016 build 14393.1770

I am not sure which version of a font pack I should install (we need it mostly to support simplified Chinese, but adding the rest from the pack would not hurt)

I  tried installing font pack for Adobe Reader X (separate per language files)  e.g. FontPack1000_zh_CN.msi  but installer is unable to find "Adobe Reader X” installed on computer.

Error message:

"This installer requires Adobe Reader X installed on your system. Please install adobe reader X before running this installer"

I tried then installing font pack for “Adobe Acrobat Reader DC“  aka "Extended Asian Language font pack for Adobe Acrobat Reader DC" (all font packs in 1 file) from here http://supportdownloads.adobe.com/detail.jsp?ftpID=5877

This time with a different error message:

“This installer is not compatible with your version of Adobe Acrobat Reader DC”. Check for a compatible version where you downloaded this installer"

So the question is:

- Where I can download extra languages font pack for my version of "Adobe Acrobat Reader 2017 MUI” ?

- If there is no font pack for this version - which version should I use instead so it would have corresponding font pack available?

- Another option - is there a known workaround on how to force install (e.g. modify installer to skip dependencies check, or modify product string)?

From what I can see from the installer tables - the error message I am getting while installing "Extended Asian Language font pack for Adobe Acrobat Reader DC” is named “incompatible_track_detected”

We need this for enterprise with locked down updates and no cloud capabilities so i understand we should stay on classic track.

Is there font pack available for classic track?

Kind regards,

Vadim

OK, Looks like I found the answer.

"In the Enterprise Administration Guide it is mentioned, that the font and spelling packs are "bundled" in the classic track"

I had a test case - multiple files with forms in Asian languages when opening them for edit they were asking for the for the font pack in previous  versions of Adobe Acrobat Reader. I could not reproduce this behaviour with "Adobe Acrobat Reader 2017 MUI", I am not asked to download font pack while opening forms for edit. So I believe the font pack is built in.

You need a pack for the 2017 classic track in Windows. The different tracks are explained, with links to the Mac font packs, on Macintosh Font Packs (Adobe Acrobat | Reader)    But while searching yields a continuous Reader Windows font pack, I can find nothing for Classic, nor on Adobe’s FTP site. If anyone finds a solution please share it here.
