Question

Font pasting as symbols/hieroglyphics

Hi.

I've been sent PDF documents from a client. We did not generate this.

I'm attempting to copy the content into another app but it exports as symbols/hieroglyphics.

For example, the text "I can confirm I am aware" copies as "× ½±²º·®³ ¬¸¿¬ × ¿³ ¿©¿®»" into Word/notepad etc.

There is no restrictions on copying content in the document but I've noticed the fonts appear to be tmp files.

"Z@RBFA3.tmp (Embedded Subset)"

"Z@RBFB7.tmp (Embedded Subset)"

Z@RC142.tmp  (Embedded Subset)"

Please confirm if there s a fix for this

Apparently, you have to have the same font type installed on your system to edit the document.  Only then will it appear "normal".

I'm dealing with this issue for one of my clients (Let's call him Scott), where if he simply edits the document, everything changes into hieroglyphics / TOFO.

I have already tested by installing fonts on his system that was used in the document but it did not resolve the issue.

I am in the process of setting up another system to see if the issue resides locally on the system he is using or if it is an issue with the documents themselves.

Hi,

Is an update available for this?

@Matthew33681814m692 There isn't an easy "fix" within Acrobat Reader itself for a document with this specific encoding issue, as the problem lies with how the font was created and embedded. Besides asking the client if they can embed the full font file. Or better yet, get the original file from them!
