Question

Form with two data fields set with identical properties, one does not word wrap?

We have a business form that is generated in SAP, and this form has worked as expected until recently. The form was developed in-house and has not been modified since 2024. Multi-line is set in both text fields, but the bottom-most text field no longer wraps text. We believe this may have resulted when our Adobe Reader app was patched. The odd thing is that opening the PDF in either Edge or Chrome and editing it there *does* work properly, but does not work in Adobe Reader version 2026.001.2691 (64bit). Even more peculiar, we have a colleague with Adobe Reader version 2026.001.21662 (64bit) and the word wrap behaves as expected.

It sounds like a version-specific Adobe Reader issue. Since the form works in browsers and an older Reader version, I'd test the latest update or temporarily roll back to confirm. If it persists, report it to Adobe with a sample PDF.

    Hi @grrickar

Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out and sharing such a detailed information. We are sorry for the trouble you are experiencing.

What we know so far from your post:

    • The form hasn't changed since 2024, so this is almost certainly a regression introduced in a recent Reader patch

    • Version 2026.001.2691 breaks word wrap on the bottom field; version 2026.001.21662 works correctly

    • Edge and Chrome render it fine, this points to something specific in how that Reader build is handling the field's rendering properties

This looks like a genuine regression between patch versions, not a configuration problem on your end. The fact that it's version-specific and browser rendering works fine strongly suggests a bug in Reader, would you mind sharing a small video recording of the steps you are taking and the issue as it occurs along with the test PDF form so we can take it up further with our development team?
