"Found higher version"

I'm using a Mac, with MacOS Sierra 10.12.1 and currently have Adobe Acrobat Reader DC 2015 Release version 2015.020.20042. I am unable to download/save PDF documents sent to me. I get a drop down notice "contact the s/w manufacturer."

I tried to download a newer version of adobe reader DC. The installation works fine, until it suddenly stops and tells me "found a higher version in installation location."

I am completely lost now and hope you will help me. I have an important piece of work to do, and can't proceed at all right now.

    Hello,

Delete it from Trash as well, then try installing.

Please keep us posted how it goes.

Emptying the trash and reinstalling worked for me. Thanks.
