Freezing on Close

Hi all,

I have an issue with one of my clients that each time they open and view a PDF, everything is fine, and then they close the window, the window disappears but everything else freezes, and an adobe icon appears on the task bar, however this opens nothing, shows a blank window when you hover over it and task manager shows it as using all available resources. Once this is closed, everything resumes and is fine. We have looked at everything and cannot see what is happening here.

We are using Windows 10, the latest version of Adobe Reader DC and we have tried a range of PDF's. The client is reluctant to move to another PDF Viewer and I would really appreciate some help as to where to go with this.

All functions appear to work while the document is open, it is simply when the window is closed.

Thanks in advance.

Becca

Hi nvsbecca,

Try running Reader as an administrator and see if that resolves the issue:

Locate Acrobat Reader's shortcut on the desktop>right click>select Run as administrator.

Also, try to open one of the pdf file in Reader, then close the pdf tab (don't close Reader) as seen in the screenshot below:

Could you please confirm the version of Reader DC installed on the machine?
