Function of the escape key when using replace text tool in Acrobat

Over the last several years of editing documents in Reader and Acrobat, I have adopted a habit (potentially in bad form) of hitting escape after writing a comment with the replace text tool to close the dialog window. However, in the last few weeks this has caused the typed text to be removed, which it has not done before, such that the edit is just an empty replace text note. Is it possible I have changed a setting somewhere?

I suppose a solution would be to just unlearn this habit. In that case, is there a keyboard command to close the text input that retains the text?
