Get rid of 7-day trial after rotate from context menu within plug in

Hi,

 

We recently updated to the latest version of Adobe Reader DC and get a lot of complaints about the pop-up about the 7-dat trial version, appearing when using the rotate button from the context menu.

In the normal Adobe Reader DC we can point people to use View > Rotate > CW or CCW, or even place these buttons on the toolbar.

 

But, when other software is using the Adobe Reader plug-in, these options are not available and people are bound to use ‘Rotate view to right’ from the context menu. This is very annoying, especially while Rotate left is missing, leaving people to sometimes click 3 times to get what they want.

 

How can we get around this? Is there a way to edit the context menu? Is there a way to expand the ‘On mouse over’ menu and add buttons there?

Please consider a patch or solution asap, since this is holding back production in important processes in hospital environment.

No, you can't do any of that.

Adobe recently changed the way the right-click menu works in Reader, which caused a lot of confusion. You can request they change it back, but that's about it.

To rotate the page view, you must go through the View menu now. The right-click command will try to rotate the actual page itself, which requires having the paid-for Acrobat.

Hi @try67, thanks for your answer.

Too bad. Of course it is possible to use View, but as mentioned, when the plug-in is being used, the Toolbar and Menu aren't available, only the context menu.

Meanwhile we were able to return to the old context menu by changing a registry key:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\DC\FeatureLockDown]

"bEnableRCMNewPOPUp"=dword:00000000

Still, this is just to prevent confusion and has only the option to rotate to the right, not to the left and we don't know yet what it breaks in other areas.

That's good to know about that registry fix, but of course there should be an easier way to do it...
