Getting error when trying to open a pdf in Reader

Hello my first time to the forum. I stopped using Adobe Reader after I could not download Adobe Reader 11, because I rely heavily on having the  thumbnail view. Not available when Adobe Reader DC was new. Now that it is available in DC, I get a popup message when I try to open a document  with it.

Error popup: "Acrobat failed to connect to a DDC server".

In the past 2 days I have download it three times. The first time it seemed to be working, then went back to it a day later and found the same error. Which also happen the next two times, it didn't even work after download.

I am confident there is someone who knows what I can do to correct this problem.

Would appreciate any help.

DP.

Thank you Staff for the reply. Engaged MS Support in remote assistance three times before the issue was resolved. They make changes on my PC so fast I can't follow what they did, and go into area's of my PC I have no idea what they are for. I believe it was a registry change that solved the issue.

Just checked again, seems to be working fine. Now I will attempt to download it on my laptop. I'll keep in mind your remedy should I have a repeat of the issue.

    Thanks again. Issue resolved.

    Hi Dillpickles,

Could you please try the following steps and see if that works:

1- Download and run Cleaner tool from here: Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs

    2- Restart the computer.

3- Download and install Reader DC from here: Adobe - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Distribution
