Question

Highlighting Freezing

I've been having problems with the new Adobe Acrobat Reader when I'm highlighting content (for notes) and the entire thing freezes. I can't scroll, close the page, uninstall it or anything. I am left an unresponsive page that doesn't even save the progress I have made.

I've had to restart my laptop multiple times just to close the page. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it thinking it would help but clearly it didn't.

I honestly don't know what to do seeing how I can't even close the page.

Hi Victoriaw,

As the application freezes while highlighting the text in the PDF, try the troubleshooting steps provided here Troubleshoot Windows system errors, freezes | Adobe software

Also, check if the application is updated to the latest patch released. To check that, launch the application and go to Help menu and select Check for updates.

Check if that helps.

If you still experience the issue, try uninstalling the application using the cleaner tool Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs.

Then restart your machine and then re-install the application from here Adobe - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Distribution.

Once the application is installed, launch the application and go to Help menu and select Check for updates.

It will update the latest patch for that version.  Then check if you can highlight the text without any issue.

Let us know how it goes.

Regards,

Meenakshi
