How best to scan an out of print book for the web
I'm seeking to scan an out of print book for presentation via the web. I don't anticipate a problem with copyright - we know the copyright holder. Scanning to pdf at 600 dpi using Canon's scan to pdf software produces 3Mb a page and there are 100 pages. Can I scan and convert to text (which might require some editing and formatting) or do I have to produce "copies" of the pages by scanning to pdf - and if so how do I reduce file size whilst preserving clarity for readers?
Any helpful suggestions welcomed. Thanks.
