How do I speed up Adobe Reader 11

Can anyone tell me how to speed up large files saved in Adobe Reader 12? When I have a file of approximately 50000 kilobytes it slows my computer to a crawl and takes two to three minutes to go 3 pages.

    Could you please check if there is an update available for Reader- launch Reader>click Help menu>select Check for Updates

    Also, you may try the steps given in the link below:

    Please note: Disabling protected mode is for troubleshooting purpose only. Please turn the feature back on when troubleshooting is complete.

    Please confirm the version of Reader installed on the computer.

    Have you tried opening other large sized pdf to check if its not a file specific issue?
