How do I uninstall everything to do with McAffee?

Since installing Adobe Acrobat it installed a virus on my system called McAffee. This software constantly pops up and takes my computer resources to scan my computer and it sometimes randomly scares me in the bottom right into warning me that my computer is "unsafe" when this is not true.

How can I uninstall this unwanted software? When I go to add+remove programes in windows 10 the uninstall button is disabled under McAffee. I googled and found a McAffee removal tool which ran for over an hour and claims to have removed it, but today I saw a window popup in the bottom right of my screen saying my computer is unsafe "by MacAffee". There is nothing I can see running in my system tray area.
