How do we change the default page display zoom in Onbase 24.1.11 for older PDF version?

OnBase version 24.1.11 uses Adobe Acrobat Reader to display PDF documents. We noticed older PDF versions displayed in OnBase zooms to 170% and staff has to zoom out every time. We’ve tried changing the scaling option under General in adobe acrobat reader and setting the zoom option to fit to page or 100% under the Page Display but it doesn’t seem to work for these older PDF documents in OnBase. Is there any other way to default 100% or fit to page for all PDF documents in OnBase.

If Adobe Reader settings aren't taking effect, OnBase is probably controlling the default zoom. Check the OnBase viewer settings or client configuration, and if it only happens with older PDFs, it may be a version-specific issue. If needed, contact Hyland Support to see if there's a fix or known issue.

    Hi @pakrat_5495

Hope you are doing well, and thanks for reaching out.

Older PDFs often have an initial view zoom baked into the document itself. When a zoom level is embedded in the document, Acrobat Reader will honor that over your app-level preference, which is exactly why changing the Page Display setting in Reader doesn't have any effect for these files.

If your team has Acrobat Standard or Pro (not just Reader), you can batch-reset the embedded initial view:

    1. Open one of the affected older PDFs in Acrobat.

    2. Go to File > Properties (Ctrl + D).

    3. Click the Initial View tab.

    4. Under Magnification, change the value from whatever is set to Fit Page or 100%.

    5. Click OK, save the file, and see if that works.

Let us know how it goes.

Thank you for following up. So when staff manual downloads the PDF document and views it in Adobe Acrobat Reader it is displaying correctly at 100% or fit to page. But for some reason in OnBase, that same document zooms in to 170%. We went through the Onbase settings and chatted with Hyland Onbase support and they did give us suggestions to try but none worked. The only thing they noticed is that the PDF version was older.

    Hi pakrat_5495,

    Thank you for the information.

The settings we discussed can be changed through the Adobe Acrobat application. It appears you are currently using Acrobat Reader to view PDFs. Would you be able to share a sample PDF with us? This will allow us to check and, if necessary, adjust the settings. By doing so, we can confirm whether changing the settings resolves the issue.

Please let us know if you have any questions or need further assistance.

    Thanks,

    Meenakshi
