Hiya all,

How do you set up Acrobat Reader so that the Bookmarks, Thumbnails and Tools tabs are hidden by default?

So infuriating that the menu and settings aren't simply shown.

Thank you in advance,

Regards

The Bookmarks panel is shown if it is set up to be shown in the file's properties. You can't change it with Reader.

Same goes for the Pages (if that's what you mean by "Thumbnails") panel. Of course, it can't be shown at the same time as the Bookmarks panel.

To show the Tools panel by default open it and then go to Edit (or the Reader menu if you're on a Mac) > Preferences > Documents, and then select Remember current state of Tools pane.

I know that you can't view 'Page Thumbnails', 'Bookmarks', 'Attachments' & 'Layers' simultaneously, as they are called.

Also I want to Hide these by default, not Show them.

The same answer applies to showing or hiding them. It can be set via the file's Initial View properties, but not in Reader.
