How to add password protection to multiple PDF files

I have Adobe Acrobat Reader DC and PDF-XChange Editor and want to add password to more than 300 pdf files.

Acrobat Reader cannot add passwords at all, you'd need (paid for) Adobe Acrobat. We have no idea what your other app does, it's not an Adobe product,
