How to change a writable pdf file into a non-writable pdf file on Mac OS Sierra

I have pdf file which has been built by a third-party including fields which must be completed with data.

After completion, I would like to save this file into a non-writable pdf file enabling me to send it to various individuals which should not be authorized to modify it.

The Mac integrated print function "save into pdf" doesn't work. Thanks for your help.

Adobe definitely would prefer it though.

Thanks for your answer but I would prefer not to purchase or subscribe to anything. I don't understand why it works on a PC using a virtual printer such as Cute PDF Writer and why nothing similar exists on Mac

Since Mac has it's own pdf generation abilities (that's where the save as pdf comes from, not from any Adobe product), a pdf printer is not needed. Cute PDF Writer is also not an Adobe product. On Windows, Acrobat installs a pdf printer of it's own.

On a Mac, can't you "print to a pdf"? If so and it doesn't work, what exactly happens when you try?

I received the following message from Acrobat Reader "Saving a PDF file while printing is not supported. Choose File> Save."

Unfortunately, saving the file, even with a different name, doesn't remove the authorization to modify it.

    Hi christopheb47027483,

There is a possibility we can do that using Acrobat: Securing PDFS with passwords, Adobe Acrobat

You may visit the help page and let us know if that helps.

If you have any questions feel free to respond back.

Thanks for your answer, but I don't know how to set a password and I even don't know if such function is integrated

and authorized in Acrobat Reader DC which I am currently using on my MacBook Pro (Sierra 10.12.4).

If you want to use Adobe software you need to purchase or subscribe to Acrobat Pro. The free Reader will not work.
