How to delete text from a comment?

Hi,

say that I draw a comment shape (e.g. an oval) in Acrobat Reader. Initially it is without any text. You can add a text in the comment pannel or in the pop-up note. But you also do not need to add any text.

Say that I have added some text. How can I delete the text without removing the comment shape completely?

Hello @xxsawer

I hope you are doing well, and thank you for reaching out.

Please try the following steps, and let us know how it goes.

  • Select the shape (click on the oval).

  • Open the Comments pane or the pop-up note that shows your text.

  • Highlight the text and press Delete / Backspace to clear it.

  • Close the note — the text will be gone, but the shape itself will remain on the page.

Important Note: This works only if commenting is enabled in the PDF. If the document is locked or certified, you may not be able to edit comments.

I hope this helps.

Thanks,
