How to open damaged file and get back lost information

Hello

I've been working on a PDF file and writing my own notes on it (lecture). When I want to open the file it says that the file is damaged and can not be repaired also it is much smaller. Is there anyway I can get my own notes back? Unfortunately I didn't do a backup and I don't have another version.

I'm working on a OS X Yosemite Version 10.10.1

Sorry for the delay in response.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to recover a damaged file in Adobe Acrobat Reader/ Acrobat DC.

However, you may look for any third party tool that can help you to recover the data.
