How to programmatically set and/or determine if Acrobat in Read Mode

I'm using acrobat intercommunication API to embed a PDF displayed in a LabVIEW application. My issue currently is that the viewing window shows all the edit toolbars which overtakes the actual PDF that is displayed in my application.

I'm using acrobat reader DC version 2018.011.20040 on Windows 10 OS.

I'm looking for a way to use the Intercommunication API or registry to programmatically set acrobat to read mode. Or if that's not possible, I'd like to at least know what mode I'm in so that I can programmatically press the Ctrl+H keys to change the display mode....

Update: I should also mention that the bBrowserDisplayInReadmode is not available in my AVGeneral Registry... I have also confirmed that the internet setting in preference does show "Display in Read Mode by default" as checked, but that setting has no effect in my PDF view through LabVIEW  (it is using IE based embedded PDF browser under the hood).
