How to remove (2) password(s) in a pdf document?

Hi there,

My company is sending to me documents which need a password to be opened (obviously I have the password).

As this is very time consuming (looking for the password each time I open the document) I wanted to remove that password.

I read some documentation about how to do it, but the issue is that the document does not allow me to remove the password (the one I know), because there is another password (like admin password) which I do not know.

I have the paid version of acrobat reader and does not allow me to do it, but there are thousends of pages out there which freely remove the password for me, so I do not understand why the paid version of acrobat does not allow me to do it.

Am I doing something wrong? Is there a way of removing it that I still did not get it so far?

Thanks for your help.

You can’t. That would be editing, and that’s controlled by the control password.

Hi. Thanks for the reply.

There is no premission password. We have written the program for encrytion so we now. Do I need to add premission password to be able to remove the user password? The program is used to send some personal document by mail but when we are storing them in a document store program it has to be decrypted.

If there's only a file-open password then you should be able to remove it in Acrobat. If that doesn't work then the application you used probably didn't apply it correctly. You need to look for a solution there, if that's the case.

Hi

I have the same problem. We have an old program, who encrypt then file, and there is only one password but it still ask for the second one. There must be a bug. We now the password and I have the sourcecode for the program who do the crypting. It dosn't work.

A PDF file can have two passwords applied to it: One to open it and one to edit it. The latter can be used to remove either policy. The former can only be used to remove itself.

If Adobe let you take off the password without knowing it, what would be the point? There is lots of irresponsible software out there sadly That ignores the PDF rules.

Probably I could not express properly. I do not want to remove the second password (I do not care about that one). I want to remove the first one (which I know).

Hope it is more clear now (sorry for my english).

Ask your company for a version without open password.

You need Adobe Acrobat and the permission password.

Info: Acrobat Reader is free.
