How to view single line text box

I am trying to fill out a FedEx form which has single line text boxes. It does not word wrap and will not open to view full text input. Is there a way to change this to multi line? There is a plus at the bottom corner of each box which does nothing when clicked on.

Not using Reader, no. The "plus" just indicates that there's more text in the field than can be displayed.
