How to write notes that aren't sticky notes?

I am trying to write notes for a school lecture, and the professors only gives us PDFs of their power point slides.  I would like to write notes for each slide, but the sticky note function is cumbersome and I don't like it.  Is there a note function that operates similar to the presenter notes in power point?  Like a whole bar below each individual slide?  I won't pay to export it to .pptx

The author of the file can add form fields where you can do it, but if they didn't your only option is to use one of the built-in commenting tools (like Sticky Note or Free Text), or to create very basic form fields yourself using a script (like this paid-for one I've developed: Custom-made Adobe Scripts: Reader -- Create Form Fields in Adobe Reader ).

I can't seem to find the free text, is there another name for it?
