Hi everyone,

since the latest update (19.010.20064), all Hyperlinks within PDF pointing toward other locally saved documents can't be opened.

Do you have any Workaround or fix for this issue?

Thank you in Advance,

BR

Steve

Sure, I put the files and Folder in one ZIP-File and uploaded on Google Drive:

    test.zip - Google Drive

The files are "only" test documents, but behave exactly like the "real" ones…

    Hi,

thank you for your quick Feedback.

We are facing the issue with all PDF containing links... We are also using several Version of Windows (Win 10 Home for myself). On Apple OSX, we do have another issue, which is that links open in the web browser (safari) and not Adobe Reader, therefore additional links pointing to locally saved files don’t work.

I must also say, that the links don’t contain the whole file path, we use “relative” path (.\..\folder\file.pdf) to find the PDF. The reason is that, the files are stored on cloud synchronised folders (Using the client NextCloud, similar to Dropbox) and though the complete path may be different from user to user (We do prepare this PDF for other).

The PDFs are generated mostly using Microsoft Words (Save as PDF)

After your Questions, I ran a couple additional Tests.

As we started our projects with the PDF, we saw that if the protected mode and enhanced safety is on, we get warning messages for every links we click on. Since we are using the PDF as a "Navigator" between files, it is quite annoying to have to click on the warning messages… so we disabled it.

Until the update, this configuration worked perfectly fine.

With the enhanced security mode off, no file could be found – We get a pop-up window mentioning that the Adobe Reader can’t find the document.

Funnily enough, if I put the enhanced security mode on, after agreeing to open the links, Adobe Reader can find the desired file.

    Hence the questions:

    - Is it somehow possible to patch the reader, so even without enhanced security, the links work?

    - Alternative, is there any possibility to prevent Adobe Reader to pop-up warning message for the confirmation of opening the files even with the enhanced security on?

    - Bonus: How can we prevent Adobe Reader to open links in safary for OS-X users?

Thank you very much in advance for your support.

PS: The problem is not located on specific files. I created a new document on a local folder (C:\test\doc1.pdf) with a link to a second file under (C:\test\doc2.pdf) and as mentioned above, without enhanced security it won’t work.

    Hello Steve,

We're sorry for the trouble you had,  are you on Windows or Mac machine and what is the version of OS?

Are you facing the issue with one specific PDF file or with all the PDF files containing hyperlinks? Have you tried with another PDF file as I tried replicating the issue at my end, and the hyperlinks in the PDF file is directing to the correct location of the file saved locally.

Is the file is saved locally or on a shared/network drive?

For testing purpose, please disable the 'Protected Mode at startup ' and 'Enhanced security'>Click OK and restart the application and check.

Note: Disabling the Protected Mode and Enhanced Security is only for testing purpose, please enable it back.

If the issue is specific to one PDF file, is it possible to share the file with us? You may share the file with us by direct/private message only How Do I Send Private Message

Let us know how it goes and share your observation.

    Thanks,

    Anand Sri.
