Indexing a combined pdf

I have combined several pdf reference books into one large pdf so that when something changes (for example a change to the law) I can find every instance that will be affected and make the necessary updates across all titles. However when I search for a term, I would like to know the original volume of each 'hit' - a sort of path to the word - something like: Book 3 page 65, Book 5 page 75, etc. Can that be done?
