Installation issues with mac book air 2011

Question

I have a mac book air 2011 and I have been able to use adobe reader all this time but now I am not able to read anything. I removed the previous download and downloaded again and It displays a message: Found a higher version Adobe acrobat reader in the installation location. Installation will terminate. I need help.

We are sorry for the trouble. As described above, you are getting the error 'A new version is already installed'

Please remove the application using the Adobe Acrobat Cleaner Tool- https://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
Reboot the computer
Reinstall the application using the link - https://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
