Installation reaches 50% download, then fails.

Hi there.

I'm having problems installing Acrobat Reader DC.

I downloaded the initial executable file through both Edge and Firefox, both downloads worked correctly.

When I went to install AR from the downloaded executable, it shows the downloading bar reach 50%, then the installation fails and I'm taken to the online failure screen.

JavaScript is enabled, my antivirus is just Windows Defender, so nothing fancy there.  I can't think of any programs that I have running that would interfere with the installation.

This is an installation over a clean install, and it has worked properly in the past.  It's just suddenly deciding to choke now.  Thanks for any assitance.

Hi @graceful_wanderlust5945,

Hope you are doing well. Sorry for the trouble.

You shouldn't need a complete reinstall of the system.

Have you tried using the link: https://adobe.ly/4o0BGgC

Once there, it should allow you to download an offline installer package of Acrobat Reader, which you can double-click to start the installation.

Let us know if this helps.

Regards,
Souvik.

How did you reinstall the entire system? I'm having the same issue. I've worked on this for days.

Hi Danielle,

Sorry to hear about the trouble caused.

When I went to install AR from the downloaded executable, it shows the downloading bar reach 50%, then the installation fails and I'm taken to the online failure screen.

We guess you have uninstalled the product directly from the control panel?

  1. Reboot your system.
  2. Please run this cleaner tool to remove the existing installer and application's files traces: https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Labs/cleaner.html
  3. Once done, Download the Acrobat Reader DC installer from here: https://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

Let us know if it still doesn't work.

Thanks,

Akanchha

Hello, thank you for getting back to me.  The fix didn't seem to work, but after doing a complete system reinstall, I got AAR to install.  So, I took the extreme answer, but it worked!  Thanks for helping, though, I appreciate it.
