Installed a new Epson printer with latest drivers but cannot print from a .PDF document

I recently purchased a new Epson printer, model XP-2200. When I try to print a page from a PDF file, I am presented with an error message stating that this document cannot be printed, and advising me to contact Adobe support for assistance. 
I'm using a laptop with Windows 10 OS. I use Adobe Reader to display the contents of a PDF file.

Question 1: Is this an Epson problem or an Adobe problem?

Question 2: How do I solve this irritating problem?
