Question

Insufficient data for an image after encrypting with Azure Information Protection

I've run into a very specific scenario where Acrobat Reader DC with the MSRMS plugin throws an "Insufficient data for an image" error after encrypting files that were originally created by the Canon iR3570 or Canon iR4570 device.  These files will open with the Azure Information Protection Viewer.  Other PDF files encrypted by AIP open and display their contents without issue.  I've tried running the files through ghostscript and tinkering with various settings, but haven't been able to find an option that makes a difference.

My version of Acrobat Reader DC is 2019.012.20035.  As of yesterday there were no additional updates available.

    Hi Brianr,

Sorry for not being able to reply to your query on time. If you are still looking for resolution, then you may try the suggestion given below-

1- Since you have already installed and working with the latest version of Adobe Reader DC, we just want to confirm whether the issue started appearing after installing the latest patch or its been there from long?

2- For testing, Navigate to Reader>Edit>Preferences>Security (Enhanced)>disable "Protected Mode at Startup" and "Enhanced Security">OK>Reboot Reader and try opening the PDF now.

Note: Changing the above security settings could pose security risks. We suggest you to turn it back On once you are done with testing.

Let us know if this helps. And if you have managed to find the solution, then please do share your findings with us.

    Thanks,

    Akanchha

Apologiies for chipping in but I have the excat same problem, with PDF's created by a Canon iR C5500. Disabling the security settings on Reader had had no effect. We have have had this problem for all versions of adobe reader.
