irresponsive adobe reader 10

my adobe reader 10 is not responding since 15 minutes and i cannot even change the protected mode etc PLEASE HELP. I HAVE ASSIGNMENT TO DO.

    Why are you still using Reader X? It's been unsupported for more than a year: End of support for Acrobat X and Reader X . If you are running Windows Vista, my experience was that all versions after ​10.1.4​ caused problems on Vista.
